Chi Shao (Red Peony Root): PAEONIA VEITCHII; RADIX PAEONIAE Red Peony Root is strikingly sour and bitter, and slightly cold. Classified as a Blood Invigorator, it is generally indicated for supporting healthy blood circulation. However, because of its cool energy, it can also cool the blood. Where White Peony is considered more of a tonic, Red Peony is more of a Blood Invigorator.
Chi Xiao Dou - Aduki Bean : Clears heat, promotes urination - abdominal fullness and swelling due to edema, urinary difficulty, leg qi edema; the nature of this herb is to move downward and relieve edema by water or dampness drained from the body. Disperses blood stasis - reduces swelling and fire toxicity, sores, carbuncles.
Dan Shen (Salvia Root): Dan Shen (Salvia Root) is a powerful herb that has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. Tao Ren (Peach Kernel, Peach Seed): PRUNUS PERSICA/DAVIDIANA, SEMEN PERSICAE. The soft "nucleus" of a peach seed, this pleasantly peachish smelling kernel is sweet and bitter, possessing neutral energy. It is classified as a herb that invigorates the blood.
Xiang Fu:(NUTGRASS RHIZOME, CYPERUS TUBER) CYPERUS ROTUNDUS L., RHIZOMA CYPERI; RHIZOMA CYPRI. The Rhizome of nutgrass, also called Cyprus, is an aromatic qi-regulating herb. Acrid, slightly bitter, and slightly sweet, Xiang Fu has a neutral energy. One of the most commonly used regulating herbs, it is often used for liver qi stagnation and pain relief.Xiang Fu acts to promote the free flow of Qi in the liver, to regulate menstruation and stop pain.
St Paul's Wort or Xi Xian Cao: is an herb that is effective for the treatment of Blocked Fallopian Tubes. This powerful herb acts as a natural anti inflammatory, eliminates blood clotting and blood toxic heat. Used with Yi Mu Cao.
XUAN SHEN: (SCROPHULARIA ROOT, NINGPO FIGWORT ROOT)SCROPHULARIA NINGPOENSIIS HEMSL.; RADIX SCROPHULARIAE ZE, BLACK FIGWORT ROOT, CHINESE FIGWORT. Used primarily to aid the cardiovascular system, Scrophularia Root can also be used for swollen throat and throat pain. The name Scrophularia comes from"scrofula" a type of tuberculosis that impacts neck lymph nodes, to which it can be used as a remedy. Chinese Figwort is also great for easing swollen tonsils and resolving neck lumps. It's mixed with a combination of herbs for rashes, throat swelling, lowering glucose levels, and sores respectively. Warning Those who use antidiabetics such as sulfonylureas and insulin should be cautious when using Xuan Shen, as it could lead to hypoglycemia.
Yi Mu Cao, (Motherwort Grass): Leonurus Heterophyllus; Herba Leonuri. Yi Mu Cao belongs among the world of Blood invigorators. While it is not a markedly strong herb in this sense, it is versatile because it will not damage the blood. It also helps to reduce swelling and clears heat. Used with St Paul's Wort or Xi Xian Cao in the treatment of blocked fallopian tubes.
Mu Dan Pi: (MOUNTAIN PEONY BARK; TREE PEONY BARK) PAEONIA SUFFRUTICOSA; MOUTAN CORTEX. Composed of the cortex, or root bark of the tree, the Mountain Peony is spicy and bitter, with cool energetic properties. As such, it is classitied as an herb that cools the Blood. While the cooling energy of Moutan root bark clears heat, cools blood, and reduces swelling, it also has a mild ability to invigorate blood circulation.
