How to Make Poke Root-Infused Castor Oil (External Use Only)

This is a traditional preparation used in some natural body care routines.

Ingredients:

• 1/4 cup cold-pressed castor oil

• 1 teaspoon dried poke root powder

• Clean glass jar with lid

Infusion Methods:

Slow Infusion (2–4 weeks)

1. Place poke root powder into a dry glass jar
2. Add castor oil and seal tightly
3. Store in a warm, dark place and swirl gently every few days
4. After infusion, strain using cloth or sieve
5. Store oil in a glass bottle away from heat

 

Double Boiler Method (2–4 hours)

1. Combine castor oil and poke root powder in a glass jar
2. Place jar in a double boiler over very low heat
3. Infuse for 2–4 hours, stirring occasionally
4. Strain and store
