How to use Indigo+ Henna for black tones
One pack 50grams might not be enough.
Important: Our black hair dye mix has indigo mixed with henna powder.
This mix does not always work the first time for clients and repeated application(s) may be necessary.
Mix the powder with warm to hot water and allow dye to release for 15 to 20 minutes. Add enough water to make the paste the consistency of pancake batter. Optional, add salt (1 tbsp per 50 grams of mask) to help the mask stick to resistant hair strands.
Make sure to wash your hair before applying the hair dye to remove any product build up. Then dry hair.
Apply the paste to your hair by sections on dry or damp strands starting from the front and moving towards the back. Make sure you wear gloves when applying mask as it will stain your hands.
Wrap your hair and allow to dye your hair for 3 to 4 hours.
Gently rinse the paste out with a very mild shampoo so as not pull the color of the dye out.
You can use a light leave in moisturize dry and style as usual.
Your hair’s color will settle over the next 2 to 3 days.
WHY DOES THE BLACK HAIR DYE DOES NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE AT THE FIRST USE
Natural dyes interact differently with each person’s hair depending on a few key factors
Hair Porosity and Texture
Coarse or low porosity hair which doesn’t absorb moisture easily can resist color absorption especially on the first try
Natural hair with tight curls may need more time or more applications for the dye to “catch.”
Previous Chemical Treatments
Hair that has been previously dyed relaxed or bleached may respond unpredictably to henna or indigo
The chemicals can create a barrier or alter the way natural dye binds
Application Technique
Henna and indigo need to be applied thoroughly and evenly root to tip and kept moist and warm during the dyeing process for best results
Timing also matters henna typically needs two to four hours while indigo requires one to two hours
Lack of Acidic Activator
Henna needs an acidic component like lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to release the dye effectively
Without it the color won’t develop properly
Some users skip this step or aren’t aware of its importance which can lead to poor results
Indigo Must Be Freshly Mixed
Indigo loses potency quickly after mixing
It must be applied within ten to fifteen minutes after mixing or it won’t dye the hair properly
So while henna and indigo can give beautiful rich long lasting color the process is very specific and requires proper prep and patience especially for full grey coverage or deep blacks
IF THE HENNA INDIGO MIX DIDN’T WORK BUY HENNA AND INDIGO SEPARATELY AND USE LIKE THIS
